BACKGROUND

Her full name is Datuk Dr Hajjah Hasmizah Othman. She is currently 44 years old(2016). She was born in Machang, Kelantan. She has a Degree in Education (Malaysian Literature and History) or Sarjana Muda Pendidikan (Kesusasteraan Melayu dan Sejarah). She is now one of the most popular and one of the most successful female entrepreneurs in Malaysia. 

Her face often appears on television as a sponsor for shows. The latest example was in Anugerah Juara Lagu ke-29 (AJL 29) and Gegar Vaganza 2015. Now, Datuk Seri Vida is the sponsor for the show Mentor Milenia TV3. Pamoga, Qu Puteh Million Cell, Qu Puteh Collagen Drink, Qu Puteh Kosmetik, Millenia Whitening Champ (Millena Qu Puteh) are all from her product line. Her best selling products are Pamoga and Qu Puteh. 

LIFE JOURNEY

She admits that she was born in a rich family before becoming an orphan when she lost her father at the age of 9 years old. Her mother and her suddenly lost their source of income. From then on, she gets to know what is business. She would do anything as long as she can earn money. There was the time in her life where she gets 30 cents of profit from selling Nasi Lemak. That made her very happy. She saved that money until she can afford her own motorbike. 

There was a point in her life where her mother had to sell a plot of land just to support her education fees in Universiti Sains Malaysia. Back then, the price for the land was just RM 13,000 and now the price could reach up to  RM150, 000. Even during her university life, she was constantly thinking about how to earn money. So, she started bringing 'telekung', batik and a lot of other stuff from Kelantan to sell to her lecturers. She had to work at a factory and at KFC during her semester break just so she could pay for her tuition fees.

She has experience being a teacher at a Chinese school for 12 years in Ipoh, Perak. People started telling her that she can't be a businesswoman if she is a teacher. She said she can't live without doing business. So, she moved on to a more challenging field. This was when she tried opening a saloon as a career. This also became her first step to starting her beauty product line. 

Now, VIDA BEAUTY has more than 400 stockists around the country including Brunei and Singapore. She says the reason she wants to do beauty and health products is so that she could help people who has health issues to continue living normally and healthily.

HER WORST MOMENTS

In 2013, she lost 2 of her sons in a fire. That incident took place at one of her houses in Meru Hill, Ipoh. She wasn't around at the moment as she was in Pulau Pinang to visit one of her branches. She received a call saying that her Bentley exploded which causes the fire. At first, she thought only the car was lost in the fire but the caller said that her two sons was in the house. She sped home from Pulau Pinang in 2 hours. They arrived at the house at 11.30 p.m. and her heart broke into a million pieces as she saw how badly the house was affected. Her boys died while hugging each other in one of the bathrooms in the second floor.

Her house that was lost in the fire

Earlier this January, one of her best selling products was banned by the Health Ministries in both Malaysia and Brunei as it was said that it contains harmful levels of mercury. She takes this situation very professionally as she agrees to return back the full payments her customers had made. She had also stated that this product is not one of her main products. 

KEEP GOING STRONG

She is now sponsoring Kelantan football team under two conditions. The first condition is that Kelantan stadium has to be painted pink and the second condition is that the team's name would be changed from The Red Warriors to Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warriors.

Even though she is often slammed by audiences for appearing too much on the television, she says that the reason for her to appear very glamorous and very luxurious is so that people will remember her product even though it may not be in the nicest way possible. Recently, she appeared in a TV show hosted by Datuk Aznil Haji Nawawi titled Terlajak Puteh, Nampak? In the show, Aznil showed how many houses, accessories and cars that she has.
